Ms Debjani Sarkar
HDR (Architect)
Debjani is a Registered Architect in both NSW and India, specialising in the design and delivery of healthcare projects. Prior to joining HDR, Debjani successfully delivered projects in India, the Netherlands and Sydney where she worked on a series of health and community projects of different sizes informing her experience across all aspects of the architectural process. Her vast project experience means she is equally adept at developing design options, stakeholder engagement, understanding technical requirements, and the coordination of consultants. Since joining HDR, Debjani has been responsible for the delivery of the Western Cancer Centre Dubbo as the Project Architect and currently responsible for The Sutherland Hospital Operating Theatre Upgrade as Project Leader.
Debjani has recently been appointed as an AIA “Practice of Architecture Series” tutor and is also a mentor through the AIA National Mentoring Program.
Debjani’s demonstrated passion for projects that positively contribute to minimising environmental impact has led to her recent appointment as the Sustainability Program Coordinator for HDR’s Australian architecture practice. Debjani is interested in the interface of art with architecture. She collaborated with ARTeConnect to create a bamboo pavilion which provided the backdrop of the events at EDGE Ashfield 2019 - a community festival that marks the end of the autumn harvest.
