Solar city, smart city: Transforming the urban energy landscape
Completing a rapid transition to net zero carbon is vital to Australia and the world’s future. Renewable sources of energy - and solar photovoltaics (PV) in particular - will play a key role in this transition.
The potential applications of solar PV extend beyond conventional rooftop panels and large-scale arrays. These include building-integrated technology, such as solar windows that generate power.
This public lecture, jointly hosted by Exciton Science and the Melbourne Energy Institute, was held on Thursday 6 May, 2021.
In it, Professor Anita Ho-Baillie and Professor Jacek Jasieniak talked about national and global trends in photovoltaics deployment, discussed what the next generation of solar cells will look like, and how their research fits into this picture.
Their talks also explored the photovoltaics work taking place within Exciton Science.
