Grant for Research into Next Generation Reflective Displays
The Guangzhou Government in China has awarded a new Grant for Active Materials for Reflective Displays. The grant will be led by Prof Guofu Zhou from host partner South China Normal University (SCNU) in collaboration with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science, Boston College and Helmholtz Centre Berlin.
The 3 year program aims to create next generation materials for Kindle style colour displays with improved contrast and higher repetition rates, enabling video based devices to be developed. By reflecting direct sunlight rather than using an electric backlight, reflective displays use less power than LCDs and require less charging.
